To understand why Orange Juice is so special you have to start with the orange.
The orange grows on medium-sized evergreen trees with smooth, grey trunks. Size, shape and flavour are not only affected by variety, but also by where they grow. Factors like soil type and rainfall affect both the size and flavour of the fruit. But regardless of how and where they grow, oranges contain water, sugar, citric acid, minerals, salts and plenty of vitamin C.
Oranges grow across the globe from places like the southern USA and Mexico to Italy, China and Brazil. Where an orange grows affects its appearance and how it’s used. Some are best for marmalades, others for eating or juicing. It’s the naturally sweet and juicy oranges from Florida and Brazil that are ideal for orange juice.
The oranges used in Minute Maid® orange juice products come mostly from Brazil, the largest producer of oranges. Since Brazil is in the Southern Hemisphere, its harvest season runs from July through January.
Brazil’s main orange varieties (much like Florida’s) include: the Pera – most like the Valencia; the Hamlin; Parson Brown; and the Natal.
Using the best oranges is only one part of making great juice. How you squeeze it plays an equally important role.
Minute Maid® has perfected a way to offer great taste all year round with a process that captures the flavour and aroma of oranges. Packed with vitamin C, folate and potassium, orange juice not only tastes good, it’s good for you.
